Data Handover Workflow
Complete workflow for survey teams: from field recording to processed data ready for QS teams to generate BQ and claims.
Your Role
As a survey team member, you're responsible for capturing accurate road condition data that will be used for maintenance planning and progress claims. Quality data at this stage ensures smooth downstream processing.
Record Field Survey
Use a GoPro MAX 360 camera mounted on the survey vehicle to capture road conditions.
Recording checklist:
- GPS enabled on camera
- 360° mode selected (not Hero mode)
- Camera mounted level and centered
- Consistent driving speed (30-50 km/h)
Upload Video to Project
Transfer the .360 video file to RoadAsset. The system extracts GPS telemetry automatically.
Steps:
- Open or create a project for the survey
- Click "Upload Video" in the toolbar
- Select the .360 file from your camera
- Wait for upload and GPS extraction
- Verify the GPS track appears on the map
Extract 360 Frames
Generate panorama frames at regular GPS intervals for streetview navigation.
Recommended settings:
- • Interval: 10-20 meters (urban), 50 meters (highway)
- • Quality: High for detailed inspection
- • Format: Equirectangular JPEG
Tag Road Assets
Identify and classify road assets (signs, barriers, markings, defects) using the tagging tools.
Tagging workflow:
- Play video or navigate 360 frames
- Press T to enter tagging mode
- Draw bounding box around the asset
- Select asset type from the classification menu
- AI will suggest classification — verify and confirm
- Repeat for all visible assets
Measure Road Segments
Define road segments for maintenance items (resurfacing, patching, line marking).
Measurement steps:
- Enter Measure Mode (press M)
- Click to set segment start point
- Navigate video/frames to end point
- Click to set segment end point
- System calculates distance from GPS
- Add segment type and notes
Handover to QS Team
Once all data is captured and verified, the project is ready for QS processing.
Handover checklist:
- All videos uploaded with GPS tracks
- 360 frames extracted at appropriate intervals
- Assets tagged and classified
- Segments measured for maintenance items
- Project shared with QS team members
